Wingspan c.11 mm.M. divisella is distributed locally over much of England but generally more frequent in the south.
The adults are very similar to M. bradleyi and M. jurasicella and are best determined by reference to the genitalia structure.
The larva feeds on willhowerbs (Epilobium spp.), inside the stem, causing a distinctive gall at one of the nodes.
There is a single generation, with moths emerging in August and hibernating over winter until the following spring when they may reappear on the wing.
