867 Brachmia inornatella

(Douglas, 1850)

Wingspan 11-15 mm.

A local species, occurring only in the fens and marshes of East Anglia and south-eastern England.

There is a single generation, flying in June and July, when the species will come to light.

The early part of its lifecycle are not yet known, though it is believed to feed on common reed (Phragmites australis), probably internally in the stems.
