Wingspan c. 20mm.This woodland species occurs locally in a disjunct distribution covering southern England and south Wales, and in northern England and Scotland.
It is very similar to P. flavifrontella and adults can only be reliably identified by dissection.
The larva feeds on dead and decaying leaves and lives in a portable case on the ground formed from part of a dead leaf.
Adult moths are on the wing from late June to early August and come to light.
