Wingspan 9-12 mm.

This moth is found in damp habitats throughout the British Isles. The larval foodplants are various Juncus species, most commonly Jointed Rush and Sharp-flowered Rush.

The larvae feed on the seeds and create a silken case with the seed husk around it.

The adult moths fly in a single generation in June and July.
