578 Coleophora otidipennella

(Hübner, 1817)

Wingspan c.12mm.

A small Coleophorid, having a greyish appearance streaked with whitish-cream. It occupies grassy habitats and flies in May and June.

The larva feeds on the seeds of wood-rush (Luzula) spp., forming a whitish or yellowish case resembling that of C. glaucicolella or C. alticolella.

The species is well distributed and common in suitable habitats over most of the British Isles.
