Wingspan 15-19 mm.This rather large Coleophorid is locally distributed mainly in the southern counties of England and Wales.
It occupies dry calcareous habitats, where the larval foodplant, common rock-rose (Helianthemum nummularium) grows, preferring plants that overhang ledges.
The larva (September to May) builds a case from leaf fragments, adding sections as it grows, creating a long narrow and distinctive case.
The adults fly in July and August and have ochreous forewings, as described in the scientific name.
