429 Yponomeuta irrorella

(Hübner, 1796)

Wingspan c. 22mm.

A scarce and local species, occurring only in southern and south-eastern England, this species is identifiable by the patch of greyish suffusion in the centre of the forewing.

The larvae feed on spindle (Euonymus europaeus) in a silken web, but unlike some other Yponomeuta species, are not so gregarious.

Adults fly in July and August.
