2467 Scarce Blackneck Lygephila craccae

([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)

Wingspan 40-46 mm.

A very local resident, confined to a few coastal localities in the West Country, where it frequents rocky slopes by the sea.

It flies in July and August, when it is attracted occasionally to light.

The caterpillars feed on various vetches (Vicia spp.), but especially wood vetch (V. sylvatica).
