2330 Dusky Brocade Apamea remissa
(Hübner, 1809)
Wingspan 36-42 mm.Two main forms of this species occur regularly, though others have been described. The dull, poorly-marked f. obscura is the commonest, and resembles a number of other species, most notably The Confused (A. furva brittanica). The typical form is more well-marked and can resemble Pale-shouldered Brocade (Lacanobia thalassina).
A common species throughout much of Britain, it frequents woodland, dry pastures, marshes, and a range of other habitats, and flies in June and July.
The larvae feed on a number of different grasses, including reed canary-grass (Phalaris arundinacea).
