Wingspan c.11-16mm.A rare species that has only been reliably recorded a handful of times in Britain.
The larvae feed in birds' nests, and possibly in other dried material, although details are scarce due to the paucity of records. Three individuals were bred in Warwickshire from a kestrel's nest.
Adult moths have been recorded between May and August, and are relatively distinctive. The specific name fenestratella refers to the window-like markings on the forewing.
