2233 Golden-rod Brindle Lithomoia solidaginis

Wingspan 45-51 mm.Predominantly a moorland species, though also occurring in open woodland in places, the distribution of this moth is mainly in northern England and Wales, and central Scotland. A few southern records are attributed to migrants.
It is on the wing during August and September, and visits sugar and occasionally light.
Despite both the English and scientific names, the normal foodplants of the caterpillars are moorland species such as heather (Calluna) and bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus)
