2205 Shoulder-striped Wainscot Mythimna comma

(Linnaeus, 1761)

Wingspan 32-37 mm.

One of the more strongly marked Wainscots, this is a fairly common moth throughout most of Britain, occurring in a wide range of habitats.

The single generation flies in June and July, and is attracted to light.

The caterpillar feeds by night on various grasses, especially cock's-foot (Dactylis glomerata).
