1965 Black Mountain Moth Glacies coracina

Wingspan 38-48mm.This unusual moth is a high-mountain species, occurring usually at altitudes of 600m or more. It is distributed fairly widely in the Scottish highlands in suitable localities.
The flight period is June and July, although the moths do not always fly freely due to the high altitude conditions.
The life history is not perfectly known, but the larva is known to feed on crowberry (Empetrum nigrum), and it is thought to overwinter twice as a larva.
