1953 Dusky Carpet Tephronia sepiaria

(Hufnagel, 1767)

Wingspan c. 20mm.

Occurring naturally in central and southern Europe, this species has reputedly been recorded just once in the British Isles, with a record from South Wales in the 19th Century.

Abroad, it occurs in deciduous and mixed woodland, where the larvae feed on lichens.

Adults fly between May and August.
