1924 Orange Moth Angerona prunaria
(Linnaeus, 1758)
Wingspan 35-45 mm.The males of this species are brighter in colour and usually slightly smaller than the females, but both sexes can be found in the typical plain orange form, as well as f. corylaria, which exhibits an orange band on a dark brown ground colour.
It is locally common in woodland and heathland in the southern parts of England, Wales and Ireland.
The twig-like caterpillars feed on a range of deciduous trees and plants.
