This species has appeared in Jersey, Channel Islands on three occasions, all attracted to light. The first record was in August 1981, then two appeared, both in July 1996.
In July 2009, the first mainlaind record for Britain was discovered in a light trap at Merriott, Somerset.
It is a distinctive species and unlikely to be misidentified. Abroad it occurs in damp forested areas, and the larvae feed on poplar (Populus).
