Wingspan 26-28 mm.

This geometer is a Southern European species only recorded from Britain on one occasion. This individual was attracted to light in Dorset, hence the vernacular name, in 1978.

The moth is double brooded on the continent, flying in April/May and again in August.

The larvae feed on various species of Poplar.
