Wingspan 13-17 mm.This species has only recently colonised the British Isles, after its first discovery in Guernsey in 1984. It is now fairly well established along parts of the south coast of England.
The adult has a quite distinctive elongated discal spot. It flies in June and July, and is attracted to light.
The well-camouflaged larvae feed on tamarisk (Tamarix gallica). Winter is spent in the pupal stage.
