Wingspan c.21mm.A scarce species which is slowly expanding its range from when it was first discovered in Kent in the 1930s. It now breeds along much of the east and south coasts from Essex to Dorset, and has spread along both sides of the Thames estuary.
Occupying a variety of open coastal and scrubby situations, the adults fly during June and July and can be attracted to light.
The larvae feed on the flowers and developing seeds of yarrow (Achillea millefolium).
