1719 Oblique Carpet Orthonama vittata

(Borkhausen, 1794)

Wingspan 23-26 mm.

Inhabiting marshy areas and other damp habitats, this species occurs widely but locally over much of the British Isles.

There are two generations, at least in the south of its range, with moths on the wing in May and June, and later in August and September.

The rather nondescript pale brownish caterpillars feed on various species of bedstraw (Galium).
