1699 Least Carpet Idaea rusticata

Wingspan 19-21 mm.

This small but delicately-marked moth is restricted to the south-eastern counties of England, although occasional other records are thought to be migrants. The first record for Cheshire was in May 1999.

Normally on the wing in July and August, it flies at night and can be attracted to light.

The larvae feed on ivy (Hedera and traveller's joy (Clematis vitalba) among other plants.
