1498 Amblyptilia punctidactyla

(Haworth, 1811)

Wingspan 18-23 mm.

Superficially similar to A. acanthadactyla, this species is generally less warm in general coloration, and has a more speckled appearance.

Widely distributed over much of Britain, there are two generations, with moths flying in July, and then from September, hibernating until the following spring.

The larvae feed on the flowers and unripe seeds of hedge woundwort (Stachys sylvatica) and a number of other herbaceous plants.
